Bandits have abducted five women while they were working on their farms in the Sabon-Gari community of Kachia Local Government Area in Kaduna State.

A member of the community, Saleh Yakubu, said the incident occurred on Saturday around 3:12 pm when several bandits, wielding sophisticated weapons, emerged from the bush and whisked the victims away.

He noted that a pregnant woman, who was among the victims, was freed after the bandits realized she could not walk fast.

The victims were identified as Dorathy Ezekiel, Ankuro Yahona, Rejoice Zakari, Hakuri Paul, and Sati Danjuma.

A community leader from the area also confirmed the abduction to our reporter by telephone on Tuesday.

He said that contact had been established with the abductors, who are demanding a ransom of N40 million.

“A family member of the victims came to inform me that the bandits called and demanded N40 million,” he stated.

The community leader added that he had alerted troops stationed at Katari about the abduction.

The spokesman for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, could not be reached for comment, but a police source in the area confirmed the incident.
