Police operatives in Kebbi State have arrested five suspected bandits.
They were apprehended along the Zuru–Tadurga axis of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kebbi, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the suspects were among those involved in recent attacks on communities in Zuru.
The suspects were identified as Bako Aliyu, Sani Alaramma, Umaru Tafsi, Mamman Sani Danzakara, and Lawali Sani — all from Birnin Tudu village in Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
Abubakar, in a statement, said seven fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, three Dane guns, three AK-47 magazines, 43 rounds of 7.62×39mm live ammunition, 46 live cartridges, two empty 7.62×39mm shells, and a cash sum of N2,623,900 were recovered from the suspects.
He added that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation aimed at uncovering their mode of operation and arresting other members of the gang.
