A large group of bandits attacked a cattle market in the Dogon Ruwa community of Plateau State’s Bashar District on Tuesday afternoon, killing one person and injuring two others.
This latest attack comes just two days after a similar incident in Yelwa Ganye village, located in the Kyaram district of the neighboring Kanam local government area.
Residents told Daily Trust that the bandits stormed the busy market, causing widespread panic and confusion.
Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, confirmed the incident, stating, “The attackers arrived on motorcycles, shooting sporadically to scare people. As people ran for safety, one person was shot dead and two others were injured.”

Another resident, Abdullahi Umar, said the bandits rustled some cattle from the market after the shooting, but many of the animals managed to return to the community. The injured victims have been taken to the hospital.
The spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Zhakom, has not yet responded to calls or messages regarding the attack.
