Bandits have shot dead a bus driver and kidnapped eight occupants between Luma and Babanna in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Residents said the incident happened last Saturday.
They told Daily Trust that the kidnappers were demanding N17 million as ransom to release the victims.
The victims were said to be on their way for the installation of the chairman of kingmakers and chief priest of Bakarabonde in Borgu Kingdom.

It was gathered that the bus was set ablaze by the attackers.
The Chairman of the Borgu LGA, Alhaji Sulaiman Yerima, who confirmed the incident, described it as unfortunate.
He also confirmed that the kidnappers had demanded N17 million as ransom before the abductees would be released.
