Bandits raided the new quarry layout at Arab Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on Sunday, killing one.
They broke into a house where they killed a resident simply identified as Muftahu and abducted his younger brother, named Abubakar Sadiq.
A resident, Lawal Yahaya, told our reporter during a visit yesterday that the attackers arrived in the area some minutes before 11pm and operated for about two hours before leaving.
He stated that the owner of the house, a female fashion designer simply known as Hajiya, was heard soliciting for assistance from neighbours, but none came to their rescue.
He further stated that a tailor working under the designer was, however, able to escape unhurt after sneaking into the house ceiling. He remained there till morning, when the security men arrived for investigation.
“That was when he suddenly jumped out from the ceiling to everyone’s surprise” Yahaya said.
Daily Trust further learnt that during a similar attack on the neighbourhood in December 2022, an occupant of the house, simply identified as Oshodi, was killed, while his neighbour, a lady, was abducted.
Efforts to speak to the FCT police command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were not successful, as her phone number was not reachable when our reporter called her last night.
A senior police officer at the Byazhin Division in Kubwa, where the incident happened, however, confirmed the attack.
