A man, Amadu Adamu, has been killed by bandits and 16 of his family members kidnapped in Tsohon-Dangunu village in Munya LGA of Niger State.

Residents said 25 members of the late Adamu’s family were initially kidnapped around 3am on Monday, including pregnant women and children, but that nine of them, children and women, were later released.

The attackers who crossed the River Dan-Gunu near Jan-Kasa village in Kaduna State to Munya LGA reportedly used a canoe belonging to locals.

The Niger State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Wasiu Abiodu, told our correspondent that a police team and vigilantes were on the trail of the abductors to rescue the victims and arrest the culprits.
