Bandits have attacked Moda Village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one person identified as Shehu Moda and injuring three others.
A statement by the State Police Command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, on Friday said the three victims sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds.
Abubakar said the bandits, upon arrival, started shooting indiscriminately in an attempt to rustle cattle belonging to residents of the community.
He added that upon receiving a distress call, police operatives responded immediately and engaged the bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into the bush with suspected bullet wounds while abandoning the rustled cattle.
According to the statement, the cattle were successfully recovered and returned the rightful owners, while the injured victims were promptly evacuated to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, reassured members of the public of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with timely and credible information on criminal activities.
