Bandits who abducted the Village Head of Bishini community in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State, Samuel Danbayi, and his wife have jerked up the N16 million ransom they demanded earlier to N32 million and given the family seven days to raise the money.
An aide to the chief, who preferred anonymity, told our reporter through telephone on Tuesday that the leader of the bandits got angry and jerked up the ransom after a man who was negotiating with him said there was no way he could raise the N16m and two bikes demanded.
He explained that, “Actually, the bandits demanded N16m, two bikes, as well as foodstuffs, last week. But on Monday, the bandits’ leader called to ask for the ransom and in the process a hot argument ensued between the man negotiating the ransom and the bandit’s leader, which angered the bandits’ leader who jerked up the ransom to N32m.”
The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, SP Hassan Mansur, did not respond to calls and text messages sent to him on the development.
