Baptist convention inaugurates new president

Immediate past President, Nigerian Baptist Convention and President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Samson Ayokunle (right) and the new President, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, during the induction of Dr. Akanji on Saturday in Lagos.

The Pastor of First Baptist Church, Garki, Abuja, Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, has been inaugurated as the new President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

The immediate past President of the convention and President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr. Samson Ayokunle, handed over to his successor on Saturday.

The event took place at Lufuwape Village on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Ayokunle urged his successor to uphold the legacies of development the convention is noted for.

He also urged him to go beyond expectations in the interest of the church and the nation at large.

On his part, Dr. Akanji pledge to uphold the doctrines and principles of the convention.
