At least six players from the football academy floated by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin have been selected to go for trials in top clubs in Holland and the United Kingdom.
This was made known on Monday when the management and players of the academy established in 2021 paid a courtesy call to its founder, Deputy President of the Senate at the National Assembly, Abuja.
Chairman of the Academy, Ibrahim Shehu Chanji, said since the establishment of the Academy two years ago, it has achieved a lot of success as some of the players are currently playing in African clubs.
He said the latest success of the Academy was the selection of its six players at a recent scouting program in Abuja for trials in Holland and the UK.

“We are here in Abuja for a scouting program, and I am happy to inform you that six of our players have been selected to play in clubs in Holland and England. This is a remarkable achievement.
“We also have other players in the Niger Republic and Congo. We will use this opportunity to thank you for the support you have been giving us. We are also committed to doing more with your support and encouragement,” he said.
Responding, Senator Barau commended the management and players for the success, urging them to sustain the tempo.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau also reiterated his commitment to the development of sports in the country.
“I want to assure you that I’m with you one hundred percent. I hope one day you will be among the top players in various leagues across the world.
“I will continue to support you and all other activities that will create employment opportunities for our teeming youths,” he said.
