Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Barau FC survived a big scare from Nigeria National League (NNL) tea, Bichi First FC to emerge winners of the 2026 Kano FA Federation Cup after their hard earned victory in final played yesterday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Bichi FC showed resilience by twice canceling Barau FC’s lead but when it appeared the final would be decided on penalties, the “Maliya boys” delivered the fatal blow to win 3-2.
Elsewhere, Lobi Stars’ dominance came to a disappointing halt on Sunday at JS Tarka Stadium, Gboko as amateur side, Flight FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory in the well-attended final.
Kpamor Gemanen scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute for the “Transporters” to win their first-ever FA Cup trophy at the third time of asking.
Set against the backdrop of a familiar rivalry, one that had always ended in favour of the more illustrious Lobi Stars, this year’s final carried both historical weight and a sense of quiet defiance from a Flight FC side that showed enormous determination to rewrite the narrative.
Despite the defeats, both Bichi First FC and Lobi Stars will still proceed to the national stage along with Barau FC and Flight FC.
In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists defeated Warinji FC 4-2 on penalties after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
