A 33-year-old man, Konyeha Armstrong, has been arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly participating in an armed robbery in Amoyo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The accused, a barber and installer, was charged with criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the case was transferred from the Amoyo Division following a complaint by Mrs. Alayande Rofiat Temitope of Amoyo.
The charge sheet detailed that three armed men invaded the complainant’s residence while she and her husband were asleep.
“The assailants, armed with a pistol, wooden sticks, and a large stone, allegedly carted away several valuables including a Tecno Spark 20, Redmi Note 12, 65-inch Polystar television, Lenovo laptop, two clippers, a rechargeable lamp, home theatre speakers, clothes, and shoes.”
“The robbers also demanded the victims’ bank details before escaping. In the process of their escape, the stolen television reportedly fell and was damaged in the compound,” the charge sheet added.
The police told the court that the phones were tracked, leading to Armstrong’s arrest on August 13, 2025, with one of the stolen devices recovered from him.
During interrogation, he “confessed voluntarily, admitting that he conspired with two others, Segun and Kehinde, who are still at large. The Tecno Spark 20 phone found on him was his share of the proceeds from the robbery.”
Prosecutor, Akinjide Adisa, urged the court to remand the accused. However, defence Counsel Toyin Onaolapo opposed the application.
In his ruling, Magistrate A.A. Gambari ordered that the accused be remanded in the correctional facility and adjourned the case for two weeks.
