The Gambian Transition Council has debunked the report that the president-elect, Adama Barrow had threatened to prosecute outgoing President Yahya Jammeh after leaving office.  Briefing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, Mai Ahmad Fatty who led members of the council to Nigeria, said there was no such statement attributed to Barrow “making any threat against the out-going president, any officials of his government, or his family.” 
Fatty, who was supported by Hamat Bah, said the transition council is not against Jammeh’s petition to Supreme Court challenging the results of the election but the illegal way he is going about it.     
He, however, thanked ECOWAS leaders for their efforts in resolving the political impasse in the country.
He also called on the international community to pressure Jammeh to respect the will of the Gambians by accepting the election results that produced Barrow.
“What we want is a peaceful and stable transition. Our focus is not on the wrongs of the President today. Our focus is on moving the Gambia forward,” he added.
