Bashiru Abdul Mohammed, Special Adviser on Public Communications to Hon. (Elder) Leke Joseph Abejide, a two-term member of the House of Representatives representing Yagba East/West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, has congratulated Major General Waidi Shaibu on his appointment as Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

In a statement, Bashiru described the appointment as “well-deserved” and “a right peg in the right hole,” noting that the timing could not be more appropriate given the country’s current security challenges.

“There couldn’t have been a better time than now,” he said, emphasizing the need for capable and visionary leadership in addressing Nigeria’s complex security issues.

Bashiru lauded Major General Shaibu’s extensive military experience, both locally and internationally, describing it as an invaluable asset in the fight against banditry, terrorism, and other forms of insecurity threatening national peace and development.

Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the appointment, Bashiru noted that Major General Shaibu hails maternally from the Ojá-ma-je clan of the Etutekpe community in Olamaboro, Kogi State.

“In this challenging national assignment, I am confident in your strength, wisdom, and courage to steer the nation towards greater security and prosperity,” Bashiru stated.
