Basic education is foundation to quality education – UBEC BOT

Speaking in Abuja at a two-day retreat for the new boardmembers and management team of the commission, he said if basic education was not given priority, the much-craved high education standards would not become reality.
The pressure on the commission-created to intervene in funding basic education which states and local governments alone are unable to provide-required healthy working relationship between the board and management of UBEC, he said in comments delivered by boardmember Kingsley Chizobam.
“As a board, we are determined not to fail. We firmly believe that we must add a cubit to the structure we have met on ground,” he said.
In his remark, acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Professor Charles Onocha, said the commission was committed in increasing efforts in response to Nigeria’s demand for quality basic education and attainment of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Education For All (EFA).
