Bauchi APC affirms Senator Wakili”s suspension

The Bauchi State chapter of All Progressives Congress ( APC) has affirmed that the suspension of Senator Ali Wakili by the Lere ward executives of the party.

The party however rejected the purported suspension of Tafawa Local government APC chairman, Mijinyawa Hardo by some members of the party.

In a statement issued yesterday signed by the state publicity secretary of the party. Auwal Jalla, the party stated that its state Executive Committee has resolved that the suspension is in line with provisions of the party’s constitution.

"We studied both the facts and the provisions of of the APC constitution and found the suspension to be appropriate. However, the cumulative effect of the acts and omissions of senator Wakili deserves an outright dismissal but we are hesitant and studying his anti.

"Mid last year, the state Executive Committee of the party had cause to withhold disciplinary action against the Senator for his anti party activities and undue publicising of intra party disputes contrary to the provisions of the APC constitution, lit added.

It added that the suspension was contained in a letter by the Lere Ward APC leadership ‎dated January 8th, 2017 addressed to the Tafawa Balewa local government chairman of the party and was later conveyed to the state leadership of the party.

"The state executive council unhesitatingly endorsed the membership suspension of Senator Ali Wakili from the APC after duly studying the facts and laws including the issue of fair hearing to the senator and his established antecedents, insubordination and contempt for the APC and it’s leadership.

"The tacit support given by senator Ali Wakili to persons designing to factionalised the party and his unholy alliance with the prime movers wishing to scuttle the APC before jumping to another party will be kept in view and appropriate action taken in due course,"it added.

The party stated that further chance will be given to the senator in line with his right to fair hearing in order to make peace.

It however warned that it will sanction any of its members who goes against the provisions of its constitution as no member is above the law, no matter how highly placed.

Reacting on the purported suspension of Mijinyawa Hardo as the Tafawa Balewa local government APC chairman, the party said that it is null and void.

"The Bauchi State Executive Council reviewed the facts‎ and allegations in the letter and found it contradictory. It was not a suspension letter but a letter of dismissal which is beyond the prerogatives of the writers,"it added.

The party also alleged that the names and signatures contained in the letter were forged while the number of people‎ that took the decision did not form the required quorum to pass the decision.

"It is the verdict of the Bauchi State APC that ‎the purported suspension of Alhaji Mijinyawa Hardo as chairman APC Tafawa Balewa Local Government does not accord with the constitution and is null and void. However, further steps to ensure peace and stability and strengthen the party in the local government will be vigorously explored," it added.
