Another wave of defection has struck Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the defection of Senator Shehu Buba and Samaila Kaila Dahuwa as the APC State Deputy Chairman, Ibrahim Makama Misau as the local government and ward executives in Misau Local Government Area defected to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).

Misau, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives who represented the Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency, announced his resignation from the APC alongside the other party executives, citing what he described as the persistent imposition of unpopular candidates and the absence of internal democracy within the party.

Misau LGA is the home of the leader of APC in Bauchi State who is also Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate.

The defectors declared their support for the 2027 governorship candidate of Senator Shehu Buba Umar under the PRP platform, describing their decision as a step toward promoting justice, fairness and inclusive leadership in Bauchi State.

At a occasion coordinated by Maiwada Bakoji Misau and Shehu Dubagari Misau, the defectors described their move as a “political awakening” aimed at repositioning the state’s political landscape.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the former APC executives Maiwada Bakoji Misau attributed their exit to the lack of internal democracy, poor leadership and the neglect of grassroots party members.

Welcoming the new members, gubernatorial candidate of PRP and Senator representing Bauchi South Shehu Buba Umar assured them of equal opportunities and active participation within the PRP.

Efforts made to get the reactions of the APC through its State Chairman, Muhammad Hassan Tilde were not successful as he neither pick several calls nor replied to text message and Whatsapp message sent to him at the time of filing this report.
