The Bauchi State House of Assembly yesterday directed security operatives to enforce the ban on closure of some access roads in Bauchi metropolis during worship by adherents of the Islamic and Christian faiths on Fridays and Sundays respectively.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman, disclosed this yesterday during plenary shortly after Hon. Jamilu Umaru Dahiru (Bauchi Central Constituency) presented a motion on the need for the Assembly to ensure strict compliance of resolutions made by the 8th Assembly banning closure of some access roads in the metropolis on Fridays and Sundays.
The lawmaker explained that the unnecessary blockage of roads is making it difficult for people to access markets, hospitals, schools, offices and other destinations.
He described the roads closure as unnecessary since Bauchi State is peaceful and not experiencing any security threats, saying roads should remain open all days so that people can go on with their normal businesses without hindrance.
