The Bauchi State House of Assembly (BAHA) has placed embargo on sales of lands in some selected Local Governments Areas that have hydrocarbons and other resources prospects.

This was disclosed by the chairman, House committee Information, Ibrahim Hassan at a stakeholders meeting with the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI) sub-committee on Economic Development.

He said that the act was to prevent the sales of lands in the selected local government areas to people especially individuals that are not indigenes of the state.

"We learnt that in Alkaleri and Kirfi local government areas some people are selling off their lands to people that are not indigenes of the state. The state House of Assembly has stop that action because the areas are endowed with petroleum resources.

"We don’t want incidences were we sell out the lands and when is time to start Drilling the resources it becomes something else," he said.

Also speaking, a members of the subcommittee from Adamawa state,Hajiya Asmau Joda caution members of the public on sale of agricultural products.

"People should be cautious on how they sell out their farm products to neighbouring countries because of future,” she said.

She therefore suggested that issues on preservation of farm products must be addressed by governments at all levels.
