At least 507 cases suspected to be measles have been reported since January in Bauchi.
It comes as the state prepares to vaccinate some 1.2 million children aged under five years against measles.
A World Health Organisation Consultant, Dr Bezu Beshir, said at a sensitisation meeting with ministries and media.
The cases were reported from 12 of 20 local government areas within the period.
The remaining nine council areas are Bogoro, Dass, Katagum, Kirfi, Shira, Ningi, Tafawa Balewa and Toro.that did not record measles outbreak.
He further explained that measles occurs in children between 2-5 years interval and the vaccination is key the intervention to reduce measles outbreak.
In his welcoming address earlier. the State Immunisation Officer (SIO), Ahmed Bakoji called on the media to support the measles campaign to ensure its success.
According to him, the two phases of its Measles Vaccination Campaign, slated for November 30 to December 5, and December 7 to December 12, 2017 respectively.
