Your Excellency sir, I am one of your most loyal citizen who has nothing but the utmost respect for your person and your office; I am constrained to write you this open letter because there are a number of issues that I believe is important for you to focus on, for reducing youths’ unemployment, having more internally generated revenue and eradicating poverty among the indigenes of Bauchi state. Indeed, we are fortunate to have a competitive, ambitious, and sympathetic governor like you in this critical time in which Nigeria faces hazardous situation of economic tsunami.
We must grateful to you sir, for your efforts and show of generosity for Bauchi state civil servants because some states owe civil servants and pensioners salary arrears for 8 to 11 months, but due to your benevolence, you have been doing your best to settle your workers’ salary arrears.
The indigenes of Katagum, Ganjuwa, Zaki, Jama’are, Itas-Gadau, and Ningi local government areas of Bauchi state are obliged to call on the executive governor of Bauchi state, Barrister Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar in collaboration with the Federal Government to resume the Kafin-Zaki dam project which its construction has been abandoned and terminated since 1984.
In reality sir, the completion of the project would boost irrigation farming, provide hydroelectric power plant and water supply for the inhabitants of those constituencies and local governments.
We were aggrieved when President Muhammad Buhari had forgotten the Kafin-Zaki dam abandoned project Bauchi state among the states in which his administration said it will construct 20 dams across Nigeria to promote Irrigation farming.  
Additionally, if you could recall sir, on Friday 26 December 2014, during your campaign in Bauchi, on Boxing Day you promised to complete the construction of Kafin-Zaki dam if elected in 2015. We are optimistic that the project would not be a major issue of campaign to you sir, as each successive regime had used it to source votes.
The dam is located in Ganjuwa local government area of the Bauchi state.  Potentially, if the project if completed, would support production of one million tonnes of sugarcane annually and provide over one million jobs for unemployed youths in Borno, Bauchi, Jigawa and Yobe states in agro-allied industries. The project is not meant for Bauchi state alone, but for the inhabitants of Kano, Borno, Gombe, Plateau, Jigawa and Yobe.
This will encourage irrigation farming so as to boost food production across the states. Additionally, the abandoned proposed dam is to be 11 kilometer-long, there are also the potentials of producing 100,000 tonnes of fisheries.
In conclusion, resuming construction of Kafin Zaki dam would boost irrigation farming in the regions which may be a key driver of the Bauchi state growth and reduce poverty among its indigenes.
We hope that those opposing the project would realize that the project is a development for all.
