Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has dismissed the Acting Bursar of Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi, Alhaji Ayuba Mohammed Gital, over alleged irregularities in his appointment and financial mismanagement.

The governor made the announcement while receiving the report of the university’s visitation panel.

He expressed concern over the lack of accountability for the substantial financial resources generated by the institution over the past 12 years.

Governor Mohammed attributed the mismanagement to the failure of the university’s leadership, saying that the government’s action is aimed at promoting transparency and accountability.

He also announced the establishment of an audit committee to investigate the university’s finances, with a specific focus on student fees and other internally generated revenue.

“The audit committee will carry out a comprehensive investigation into the university’s financial records to ensure all funds are properly accounted for and utilised. Any misappropriation of public funds will be met with decisive action,” the governor said.

He assured that the visitation panel’s report would be submitted to the State Executive Council for deliberation and appropriate action.

The panel, chaired by Professor Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, conducted a wide-ranging assessment of the university’s operations, engaged with key stakeholders, and inspected facilities across its three campuses. Its recommendations are expected to help restore stability and improve institutional governance.
