Indigenes of Giade town in Bauchi State have urged Governor Bala Mohammed to ensure competence in appointing a district head for the proposed new district in the town.
The governor recently created new emirates in the state, signalling plans to establish additional districts under the new structures.
While expressing gratitude for the creation of Giade Emirate, residents, in a statement signed by Umar Abdullahi Jingina, Yakubu Maijama’a, Gambo Jauro, and others, stressed the importance of careful selection for the district head position.
“We welcome the creation of Giade Emirate, which will boost local development, promote cultural heritage, and strengthen traditional leadership,” the statement said.
However, the indigenes warned that Giade’s significance requires a district head whose integrity and public perception inspire confidence rather than negativity.
The residents urged the governor to conduct a thorough assessment before endorsing any candidate, highlighting the need for a leader capable of fostering peace and development in the rapidly growing town.
“We raise our voices to ensure that the best candidate is chosen, and we trust Your Excellency to make a decision that reflects the hopes and aspirations of Giade people,” they added.
