Bauchi State Government will award contracts for the construction of access roads and provision of electricity in the ongoing construction of 2,500 housing estates embarked upon by the administration in the six emirates of the state.
The State Commissioner for Environment and Housing, Honourable Hamisu Muazu, who disclosed this during the inspection of the ongoing housing project in some areas, said the government would provide amenities in the new estates to enable poor people who would be allocated the houses by the state government to enjoy life like other citizens.
The commissioner who visited project sites in Jamaare, Azare, Misau and Ningi expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded so far and commended the contractors for the progress of work.
“I am here to inspect the ongoing construction of our 2500 housing scheme awarded by the administration of Senator Bala Mohammed. I am satisfied with the achievements so far made and I must commend our contractors for living up to expectation.”
He expressed optimism that the project would be completed without taking much time having reached various stages of completion.
He also applauded the contractors for working with local suppliers and urged them to maintain the tempo for the speedy completion of the housing project.
The commissioner, however, attributed the delay in the speedy execution of the project to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
