Bauchi NUJ protests attacks, intimidation of journalists

Bauchi State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has concluded plans to protest the continuous attacks, incarceration and intimidation of journalists in Nigeria.

The protest, which will hold on Thursday, followed a directive given by the national body of the union, a statement signed by its state secretary‎, Yakubu Mohammed Lame, read.

“In ‎view of a directive by the National Secretariat of our displeasure over incessant attacks and incarceration of media organisations and journalists across the country, you are hereby invited to a protest by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council.

“The demonstration will take place on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at our Press Centre, Ahmadu Bello Way, Bauchi by 11:00 am. All members ‎are urged to attend. Leadership of Chapels are also advised to mobilise members for the protest that will hold simultaneously across the federation.”
