Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has announced a partnership between the state government and the gfederal overnment to tackle the persistent flooding in Cheledi town, Kirfi Local Government Area.
The governor disclosed the partnership while flagging off the construction of a 38km road linking Bara, Hashidu, Tubule, Garin Malam Julde and Wanka in Kirfi Local Government, as well as township roads in Duguri and Alkaleri.
He said the project would be carried out under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) initiative, a World Bank-assisted project aimed at addressing the flooding issue through detailed engineering solutions.
Governor Mohammed emphasised that the construction of the rural road network in would enhance connectivity and drive economic growth; part of his administration’s efforts to develop rural areas.

The project, valued at approximately N18bn, aims to link several rural communities, facilitating economic opportunities, social interactions and access to essential services like markets, healthcare and education.
