The Bauchi State Government has disclosed that, it would soon constitute a Committee for the implementation of the new N30,000 Minimum Wage approved by the federal government.
Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubukar made the announcement in Bauchi on Wednesday during the celebration of this Year’s International Worker’s Day at Abubukar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
Governor Abubakar who was represented by the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Adamu Gokaru said the Commitee would work out modalities for effective implementation of the policy which he said is part of government’s efforts towards the welfare of workers in the state.
In his keynote address, the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Adamu Gokaru commended Governor Abubakar for salvaging the State Civil Service from impunity and other unethical practices that led to decline in commitment to duties and productivity.
In his address, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Danjuma Saleh appealed to the state government to ensure the immediate implementation of the new National Minimum Wage to improve the living condition of civil servants.
