Northern Education Initiative has donated over two million text books worth about N2 billion in Bauchi State to improve literacy in primary schools.

Executive Chairman of Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB), Professor Yahaya Ibrahim Yero disclosed this during the distribution of 30,000 textbooks to some schools.

He disclosed that with the coming of the initiative, pupils learning abilities have been improved.

According to him, the textbooks would improve literacy in basic schools adding that the state government would support the publication of more books in the future.

In his remark, the State NEI Team Leader, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmad who was represented by Dr. Sadiq Abubakar Ilelah said as part of an effort to improve quality of education at the basic level, the project had trained large number of teachers in 10 local government areas.
