Thousands of Muslim faithfuls have participated in a Maulud procession in Bauchi on Tuesday as part of the celebration of Eid-El-Maulud.
Eid-El-Maulud is done every year on the 12th of Rabiu-Awwal of the Islamic Calendar to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The procession brought the metropolis to a standstill as the number of people came out in large numbers to celebrate or watch the procession. Thousands of people, young, old, men, women and children lined the major streets where the long procession passed.
Colourfully dressed participants in the rally passed through the streets chanting praises of prophet Muhammad (SAW) and thanking Allah for witnessing another time to celebrate the birth of the prophet sent to the entire mankind.
The rally which commenced as early as 8:00 am from the palace of the emir of Bauchi lasted until late evening.
The participants came from places within and outside the country to celebrate.
Students from various Islamic schools carried banners with Islamic inscriptions singing praise of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The event was preceded by a Maulud gathering Monday night by the renowned international Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi.
Speaking, he explained that the purpose of Maulud was to commemorate the birth of the prophet and to inculcate the love for prophet Muhammad in the minds of all Muslims for them to practice what he taught and emulate his noble characters.
The Islamic scholar pray to Allah to rid the country of its numerous problems especially insecurity and other challenges facing many parts of the nation.
