The Bauchi State Government has commenced a fumigation exercise against mosquitoes in six out of its 20 local government areas to reduce incidences of malaria.
According to Dr Ibrahim Kabir, the Director General of the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), the six LGAs are Bauchi, Katagum, Misau, Ningi, Jama’are and Dass, noting that the agency has earmarked N7 million for the exercise.
He said, “This is the second time the present administration is mandating the agency to carry out fumigation against mosquitoes.”
Dr Kabir explained that the chemicals to be used killed only mosquitos and was not harmful to humans or other insects and animals.
