 Bauchi State Government has commended the European Union EU and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for improving and strengthening its capacity to enhance access to quality Primary health care services.

Chairman, Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (SPHCDA), Adamu Gamawa made the commendation while briefing journalists in his office on the EU,UNICEF intervention in the state.

"The EU,UNICEF in collaborations with the state government have begin strengthening government capacity to enhance access to quality primary health care services for the poor, marginalize, rural women and under five year old children in the state," Gamawa said.

He said that the intervention has supported the state government in areas of recruitment, training of adequate and qualified health personnel, provision of equipments for health facilities and community based services in the state.

He further explained that the project support is in line with government policy of having a Primary Health Care under one roof with focus on health, Nutrition and Social protection interventions using the one PHC facility per ward model.
