A former chairman of Sagbama Local Government Council of Bayelsa State, Chief Peres Peretu has been installed as the ‘Onuaboro’ of Tarakiri clan of the local government area.
The installation ceremony, conducted by the Pere of Tarakiri clan, King Richardford Koroye, attracted prominent traditional and political allies of the former council boss.
Niger Delta Trust gathered that the stool of ‘Onuaboro’ of Tarakiri clan became vacant following the death of its former occupant, Chief Eberiye Sagamu, some years ago.
Presenting Chief Peretu to the Tarakiri Council of Chiefs, the Amananawei of Angalabiri, Dr Famous Eseduwo, recalled that only Chief Peres Peretu declared his interest to occupy the seat.
He said during the election at the palace of Amananawei of Angalabiri clan on May 29, 2021, Chief Peretu polled 25 votes to clinch the position.
Chief Peretu was received by the Pere of Tarakiri clan according to the tradition of the kingdom before he was formally installed by the acting chairman of the council of chiefs, Chief (Dr) Seiyifa Koroye, who commended the diligence of the Angalabiri people in their choice.
Speaking after the installation, Peretu, thanked God, the Pere of Tarakiri clan and entire people of Tarakiri clan for the honour done to him.
