Bayelsa state government has observed that farmers who benefited from the state’s agriculture loans scheme are reluctant to pay back the money, thereby preventing more beneficiaries.

The state deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John Jonah (Rtd), said this while presenting the income, expenditure and financial statements for the months of August and September at the government house in Yenagoa. He regretted that attitude of the farmers is making it difficult for the government to recover the huge funds invested in the scheme.

According to him, “Most of those who collected agriculture loans are Bayelsans, we are trying to compile the list, we are trying to collect the previous one before disbursing subsequent one.”
