The players were picked out of the over 500 selected during the preliminary round of the competition.

The Governor’s Cup, also known as ‘Prosperity Cup’’ which is aimed at harnessing young football talents from the grassroots, also commenced the second edition of the female version of the tournament.

Over 10 foreign scouts from Finland, Sweden, Lithuania, and Turkey alongside the Nigerian U-20 coach who is also the president of Nigeria Coaches Association, Mr. Ladan Bosso, and other former internationals were in the state as part of the tournament’s international scouting program/coaching clinic.

Two of the scouts, Hilary Azodo, the CEO OTP Finland and Glenn Stahl, a UEFA Pro Licensed Coach expressed their gratitude to the Bayelsa State Government for giving the youths a platform to realize their potential.

The second edition of the female tournament has 22 clubs and over 500 players jostling for laurels.

The Director General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe, has said the grand finale of the tournament is billed for Saturday, July 20.
