Bayelsa gov’ship: Inspection of materials begins after hitch

The inspection of materials used during the November 16, 2019 governorship election in Bayelsa State by the PDP and other parties that took part in the election has commenced at the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yenagoa.

The inspection began with Nembe local government where the APC won massively during the poll.

The State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja had granted the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Douye Diri’s, request to inspect the materials used during the election.

He is challenging the declaration of Chief David Lyon of the APC as the winner of the election and governor-elect by INEC, insisting that the election was marred by irregularities.

PDP, yesterday through a statement by its Bayelsa State Secretary, Godspower Keku, alleged that APC was trying to disrupt the inspection of the governorship election document as granted by the tribunal.
