The Bayelsa State government has commenced the construction of a bridge project in Opume community, Ogbia Local Government Area which was abandoned over 20 years ago.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson, who inspected the project recently, urged the people to continue to support governor Seriake Dickson to deliver on his promises.

He said the bridge, which has been in a sorry state for over 20 years, has been constructed by the Dickson-led administration to ease the movement of motorists and pedestrians in the area.

Iworiso-Markson, who is an indigene of the community, said with greater support, the government will do more for the people before the end of its tenure in 2020.

He commended the governor for the project for the people of the community who have always found it difficult to access other communities.

According to him, he decided to visit his hometown and inspect the bridge ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities which will see an influx of people to the community.
