The planned programmes come months after it secured new approvals to run four programmes in sciences—petroleum chemistry, biological sciences, financial mathematics and physics-computing – starting next academic session.
“With the above programmes commencing, applications have been made to the NUC (National Universities Commission) for the commencement of engineering as well as medicine, dentistry and pharmacy in the 2014/2015 academic session,” said Baze chancellor Ahmadu Abubakar at a press briefing in Abuja.
It has also secured accreditation for its law programme from the Council for Legal Education, shortly after getting approval for a law faculty.
“With this development, the university has gotten the approval of the Nigerian Law School to receive her students for training on graduation from here,” said Abubakar, who chairs Baze’s Board of Trustees.
With a student population of nearly 1,000, the school aims to provide British-standard academics with a Nigerian emphasis on student conduct at about half the cost of sending a student to the UK, officials insist.
