The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has cautioned Nigerians, especially job seekers, not to fall victims of job scammers.
The advice is coming amid a surge in fake recruitment letters and fraudulent online offers.
An official statement by the board said the caution became necessary to protect the public from fraudulent people targeting job seekers.
The statement, dated June 10, 2025 and signed by the Board’s Secretary, Major General AM Jibril (Rtd), was to clarify the status of recruitment process for Nigeria’s paramilitary agencies.
Although the statement confirmed that there was a presidential approval for the recruitment of new personnel into the four paramilitary services under its jurisdiction, such approval does not mean that the recruitment exercise has commenced.
The board noted that several formal procedures and verification steps must be completed before any recruitment exercise could start.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and due process, the board assured that all genuine recruitment announcements would be made through national newspapers and other reputable media platforms. The board promised that the entire recruitment process would be fair, transparent, and completely free of charge.
“We wish to reiterate that all recruitment processes will be devoid of any form of payment.
“Members of the public should be wary of the activities of recruitment racketeers, who may want to take advantage of unsuspecting job seekers to rob them of their hard-earned resources,” the statement read in part.
The board urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and to disregard unofficial recruitment messages or solicitations, especially those demanding payment.
