The FCT Police Command has urged residents of the territory and its environs to be security conscious as the festive period approaches. 

A statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, advised residents against opening the gates of their houses to strangers.

The statement further said the advice was sequel to the fact that the command has uncovered a new strategy devised by suspected armed robbers who drive their vehicles to some house gates and  blare horns  and when unsuspecting gate men opened the robbers rob the house  occupants.

He said while the command was working assiduously to arrest such hoodlums, members of the public were advised to be mindful of the activities of such criminals. He urged landlords to intensify efforts to educate their security guards on the need to always know the identity of who is at the gate before opening them for the visitor to enter.
