The activities of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Oto/Ijanikin, Lagos State, especially the manner in which they run the Directorate of Degree Programmes have become a source of worry of late.

The shoddy way the institution has handled the release of statement of results and issuance of certificates to graduands of the directorate’s programmes smacks of intent to defraud. Students of the institution who graduated two to three years ago are yet to get their results and the authorities are giving flimsy excuses that the affiliate institution, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, was the one delaying the release of the results. It is a clear indication that the motive for setting up the directorate in the first place was to lure unsuspecting Nigerians to enroll into the programme so that they would be exploited financially.

The cost of studying at the sandwich programme is costly and the delay in giving the students what they have laboured for is a clear indication that the authorities of the institution were ab initio, out to exploit and not to impart knowledge.

For a programme that cost poor Nigerians who are looking for better opportunities in life through acquisition of knowledge over N500, 000 to complete, there should not be excuses  but results. Unless the institution is giving credence to the rumour making the rounds that scripts of some students are missing.

The two anti-graft agencies of EFCC and ICPC would be doing the thousands of young Nigerians, whose quest for knowledge so that they could serve their country better, which has made them vulnerable to exploitation by these unscrupulous elements running the degree programme, a great service by investigating how the programme is being run.
