Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Nigeria, Mr Vyacheslav Beskosty said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Executive Secretary of the PTDF, Dr Oluwole Oluleye in Abuja.
The envoy said his country, a major oil and gas transit country for Russia and other neighboring countries, is endowed with the requisite technology and knowledge of the different specializations in oil and gas disciplines.
He informed the Executive Secretary that, as one of the top ten rated countries in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development, Belarus can support PTDF’s mandate of human capital development by providing training facilities and research infrastructure for PTDF Scholars.
Already a good number of Nigerians are undergoing different academic study programmes in the country under the Post-Amnesty rehabilitation training programme.
The Executive Secretary commended the envoy’s initiative to seek collaboration with PTDF, which is the lead agency of government statutorily empowered to build capacity in various science and technology related disciplines that are relevant to the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
He said the Fund will be willing to collaborate with all institutions and agencies of governments that are ready to support it in implementing its mandate particularly in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) development, engineering as well as in renewable energy.
Dr Oluleye promised to explore the possibility of a pilot scholarship arrangement with the country on a small scale which could be expanded in future.
