Bello proposes N174.8bn budget for 2017

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State yesterday presented the state’s 2017 budget proposal of N174.8 billion before the state House of Assembly for consideration and approval. Bello said the appropriation bill comprised recurrent expenditure of N58.5, representing 33.47 percent while the capital expenditure stood at N116.3, representing 66.53 percent.
He said a total of N43.4 billion was proposed for administration, N80.4 billion for economy, N6.8 billion for law and justice, while N44.09 billion would serve the social sector.
Governor Bello who tagged the 2017 budget proposal as Budget of New Direction, said it was aimed at completing ongoing projects and addressing new projects in critical areas of need.
Earlier, the speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Ahmed Imam, said the Assembly would ensure speedy considerations.
