Benin City to host Ardova handball premier league in April

The ancient city of Benin is set to play host to the first phase of the Ardova Handball Premier in April 2024.

This was made known in a statement from the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Cosmos Chukwuemeka yesterday.

According to the statement, the  top tier Handball league which is the biggest handball event in Nigeria, will take place from April 28 to May 11, 2024 in Benin City as revealed by the secretary general of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Almu Umar Lambu.

Also, Mr.Almu Lambu, the Secretary-General of the HFN urged the teams to ensure the conclusion of their players registration ahead of the league.

The Ardova Handball Premier League consists 22 teams (12 male and 10 female) and runs in two phases.

The league, which is in its 7th season, is in its second year of sponsorship with Ardova PLC.

Niger United and Safety Babes are the defending champions in the male and female categories of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2023.

Niger United, who were the 2018 champions, led the male category right from the first phase in Benin City, Edo State and held onto the lead to win the league while Safety Babes went through the season unbeaten as they retained their title to be crowned the league champion in 2023.
