The Benue State Government has allocated 127 hectares of land to Family Homes Funds, an agency of the federal government for the building of low-income housing estate for Benue State civil servants.

Governor Samuel Ortom made the disclosure when he received the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO) of Family Homes Funds, Femi Adewole, a few days ago in his Abuja residence.

Ortom who commended the federal government for the initiative, expressed delight that Benue State was considered to be part of the scheme.

The governor assured that the state government would hasten payment of compensation for the landowners to enable the commencement of construction of the housing units.

Earlier, the MD/CEO of Family Homes Funds, Adewole urged state governors to take direct ownership of the project as he noted that the idea was to make housing affordable to all Nigerians, particularly, the low-income earners.

Adewole explained that each housing unit costs N2 million and beneficiaries would have up to 15 years to pay back the loan with a monthly deduction of N11,000 only.
