Five communities in Benue State have benefitted from drinkable water projects of the World Bank assisted water programme to help reduce sufferings of the people.
The state government has therefore commended the federal government for citing some of water projects in the state for the benefit of its people.
Speaking during the impact commissioning and handing over ceremony of World Bank Assisted Pro-Poor Water Supply Facility in the five locations in the state, the Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment, Nick Wende, charged benefitting communities to make good use of the facilities.
The chief executive officer of Male Integrated Science Nigeria Limited, the contractors that handled the projects, Dr. Michael Ale, listed the benefiting locations as Nyon, Ortese Market, Gboko, Oju, NKST Gaadi and Wurukum Park.
Ale said a Water and Sanitation Hygiene Committee (WASHCOM) had already been set up to monitor and maintain the project, adding that the community which takes proper care of its facility for one year would be rewarded with the sum of N100,000.
