Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has declared Thursday a work-free day to enable civil servants in the state to attend the burial of the late Head of Service, Dr Moses Agbogbo Ode.

The governor also announced that a civil servants’ housing estate acquired by the state government around the Welfare Quarters area in Makurdi would be named after the late HoS in recognition of his service to the state.

Alia made the announcement on Wednesday during a valedictory session held in honour of the late Head of Service at the Old Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi.

He described the late Ode as a patriot, reformer and key driver of governance reforms in the state, stressing that his death was a painful loss to the state government, the executive council and the people of Benue.

He said the late HoS played a significant role in strengthening the Civil Service and ensuring effective implementation of government policies.
