Delegates of ECEWS, an Uyo and Abuja based community health awareness and education firm on tour to the state, said that they sought an enabling environment through the state ministry of health in-order to extend their services to primary healthcare institutions located in  rural areas.
The deputy project director, Dr. Okezie Onyedinachi, who spoke on behalf of the delegation to Makurdi, explained that the organization was worried by the numerous health challenges faced by the state, especially in the areas of lack of family planning and adequate HIV awareness based on which the initiative was conceived to ensure capacity building and counselling among others.
He noted that the project would commence in general hospitals and primary healthcare centers across the 23 local government headquarters of the state and subsequently expand to every nook and cranny of the state.
Responding, the state commissioner for Health, Dr. Orduen Abunku lauded the initiative, saying that the partnership would contribute immensely to the fulfillment of healthcare delivery to rural and semi-urban communities.
