Executive Chairman, Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Grace Adagba, says despite efforts to make education compulsory, public schools in the state are underutilized owing to a lack of pupils.

Adagba, according to a statement by SUBEB’s Information Officer, Emmanuella Akese, spoke in Otukpo when her team took the enrollment drive campaign and sensitization programme to Benue Geo-Political Zone C.

She said Governor Alia’s administration had revitalized public schools for optimal outcomes, asking parents to take advantage of the opportunity.

“It is our priority and desire that all public schools in Benue are adequately enrolled and equipped,” she said.

The Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Frederick Ikyaan, expressed concern about the number of out-of-school children in the state.

He said the enrollment drive campaign aimed at unlocking potential and build a prosperous society.
