Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Alfred Emberga, and Deputy Speaker, Lami Danladi, have secured the tickets of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 state assembly elections in Makurdi North and Ado constituencies respectively.

Emberga emerged victorious in the APC primary election for Makurdi North constituency after polling 7,303 votes out of the 7,382 total votes cast across the five wards of the constituency.

His opponents, Stephen Datso and Valentine Gbaka, polled 50 and 29 votes respectively.

Returning Officer for the constituency, Desmond Atov, said Makurdi North has a total of 24,414 registered voters.

Reacting to his victory, Emberga described the exercise as free, fair and transparent, saying the outcome reflected the confidence his constituents have in his representation and the administration of Hyacinth Alia.

“I am very excited. It was not an easy task, but with the massive support of my constituents who found me worthy in 2023 and based on the work they have seen, they decided that I should return to the House,” he said.

In Ado State constituency, Danladi defeated three male aspirants to clinch the APC ticket for the 2027 election.

The Returning Officer for the primary election, Comrade Akaater Abraham, declared her winner after polling 7,132 votes out of the 8,767 accredited voters.

Her opponents, Mark Attah Ochoga, Dickson Otokpa and Iduh Godswill, polled 264, 180 and 143 votes respectively.
