A female student of the Department of Linguistics at Father Adasu University (FAU), formerly Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi, Miss Akaa Elizabeth, has driven home a brand new car worth 38 Million after emerging winner of MTN Nigeria’s digital raffle draw.
The event, held on campus at the weekend, was the climax of MTN’s Pulse Campus Activation, a nationwide youth engagement and empowerment campaign that blends business support with entertainment for students in tertiary institutions.
Speaking during the grand finale, MTN’s Youth Segment Manager, Femi Adesina, said the initiative was designed to inspire young Nigerians to explore creativity, entrepreneurship, and digital innovation while rewarding their loyalty.
“We go from campus to campus engaging students, empowering them, and giving them platforms to showcase their businesses from snacks and fashion to perfumes and tech.
“Each activation runs for three days and ends with a digital raffle that rewards participants with exciting prizes,” Adesina explained.
He noted that participants in the draw were required to be MTN Pulse subscribers and active users of the MoMo (Mobile Money) app, making at least ten transactions within the activation period to qualify for the prizes.
Adesina added that the initiative had toured universities including UniAbuja, FUTO, and UNIBEN, with plans to extend to the University of Lagos, Bayero University Kano, and FUNAAB.
On her part, MTN Youth Segment Specialist, Dimples Eyo, said “MTN is not just an overhead brand; we’re here for students to see how we can structure solutions that meet their needs.”
Our correspondent reports that the Makurdi activation featured live music, celebrity appearances, and interactive games such as table tennis, giant chess, 360° photo booths, and a “noiseless party,” creating a vibrant atmosphere across the campus.
Several students such as Adyorough Terdue Daniel, a 100-level Physiology student, walked away with an Infinix Hot 60 smartphone worth over N180,000,
Sor Sezah Susan, a 200-level Anatomy student, won a headset during a freestyle rap challenge.
“I wish MTN could come to campus frequently because this platform gives opportunities to display talent,” Susan said excitedly.
For Miss Akaa, the car win left her speechless when her name was announced amid cheers from fellow students who thronged the arena to celebrate her victory.
